Rural skills courses

Here at Cronkshaw Fold we offer a variety of beginners rural skills training courses in outdoor related disciplines. Come to us to learn more about a topic you are interested in or purchase a voucher from us for a rural skills course as a gift for a friend or family member. A rural skills course includes a day working with and learning from a member of farm staff with considerable experience within the disipline in question. A farmhouse lunch can also be provided, eaten in the farmhouse (or on the job if hedge laying/ walling at a distance from the farm)

Willow weaving

Hen keeping

Green woodworking

Sheepdog training

Gardening for food

When

We accept bookings year round, however several of these activities are seasonal. If you are interested in booking a rural skills course with us drop us an email outlining which activity you would like to learn about. If you don't see your preferred discipline listed here let us know, we may be able to offer you a bespoke course.

Prices

Peak and off peak prices are determined by what else is going on at the farm at that time (such as lambing, hay making, harvesting and other seasonal activities which cannot be reschedulled or delayed). It may be that we can run a rural skills course alongside work we are already undertaking, thus we can charge you the off-peak price. Reducing the price in this way is something we are happy to do in order to offer this learning opportunity to those who may not be able to afford the full price.

*All food provided for those attending courses will be sourced primarily from the farm, other local farms and ethical food suppliers. We can cater for vegetarians, vegans and other diets on request. Any animal products used in the food will come from local farmers.
